Merlin is a British fantasy-adventure drama television programme created by Julian Jones, Jake Michie, Julian Murphy, and Johnny Capps, starring Bradley Jamesas King Arthur and Colin Morgan as Merlin. It was broadcast on BBC One from 20 September 2008 to 24 December 2012 for a total of 65 episodes. The show is loosely based on the Arthurian legends of the young wizard Merlin and his extremely close relationship with King Arthur, but it differs from traditional versions. The show was influenced by the US drama series Smallville about the early years of Superman, and was produced by independent production company Shine Limited.
This action-packed fantasy-drama revisits the saga of King Arthur and his wizard, Merlin, by focusing on the two characters when they were ambitious young men struggling to understand their destinies. In this telling, Prince Arthur is known to be the heir to the throne (no sword from the stone here). And he is acquainted with all those who will one day form the legend of Camelot, including Lancelot, Guinevere, and Morgana. Merlin is also forced to deal with King Uther's Great Purge, which bans all use of magic.
If you are a fan of fantasy and mystery, then you don’t have to search anymore. This will be a total feast for you. The story of King Arthur and the wizard Merlin , their friendship and their bonding is pictured with at most perfection and uniqueness giving more importance to the story of Merlin. This series will pull you into the story and make you a part of it. The acting and direction are commendable and deserves appreciation. Each episodes deals with a mix of mystery and drama which captures our attention. Even the CGI work is the best considering the time period of the production. Apart from some lengthy episodes and not a perfect climax , this show is entertaining and one of the best of its kind
