Warrior is a 2011 American sports drama film directed by Gavin O'Connor and starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as two estranged brothers whose entrance into a mixed martial arts tournament makes them come to terms with their lives and each other. Nick Nolte was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the father of the two brothers. Jennifer Morrison and Frank Grillo also star.
An estranged family finds redemption in the unlikeliest of places: the MMA ring. Tommy (Tom Hardy), an ex-Marine with a tragic past, returns home and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovering alcoholic and former wrestling coach, to train him for "Sparta," the biggest MMA tournament ever held. But when Tommy's underdog brother, Brendan (Joel Edgerton), fights his way into the tournament, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart.
Something like a pure gem came out from such a small plot. The direction along with the acting stands out which make it engaging to the very last minute. Even the music for each scenes are in perfect sync and that too delivers the message that the director wants to give.
The emotional scenes between the brothers are top notch and will hit each viewers heart to make a dent in it. Even the fight scenes are made realistic without the regular super hero punches and all. Overall it is a really inspiring emotional movie that keep the audience on board till the end of the movie.
