Charlie St. Cloud is a 2010 American drama film based on Ben Sherwood's best-selling novel, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud published in 2004 by Bantam Books. The film is directed by Burr Steers and stars Zac Efron and Amanda Crew. The story is of Charlie St. Cloud's choice between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves. In some markets the film used the complete title of the book.

Adored by his single mother and his little brother Sam, Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) is an accomplished sailor and college-bound senior with a bright future ahead of him. When Sam dies in a terrible accident, Charlie's dreams die with him. But, so strong is the brothers' bond that, in the hour before each sunset, Charlie and Sam meet to play catch. The return of a former classmate (Amanda Crew) leads Charlie to a difficult choice: remain stuck in the past, or let love lead him to the future.

I wouldn’t say this is a top notch movie. It is a descent movie with really good acting by all the cast and an elegant mix of emotions without boring the audience. Zac Efron is completely dominating the entire scenes with his acting brilliance . But the storyline of the movie is pretty simple and straight without any serious twists or turns of events. But the director is successful in utilizing such a simple story and make something watchable in an efficient way.
